Our Cosmetic Tattoo Trainers

A good trainer shows you the movement, watches your hand while you repeat it, and tells you what to change. Demonstration, supervised practice and feedback describe the general approach to hands-on training. This page sets it out: how our trainers teach, what each trainer profile shows, the courses they teach and the questions worth asking before you enrol.

How our trainers teach

Cosmetic tattoo is a skill of the hand, so hands-on training generally moves through demonstration, supervised practice and feedback. The order helps: you see it, you try it under supervision, then you look closely at what you did.

Step 1

Demonstration

Your trainer works through the technique in front of you: mapping the shape, stretching the skin, holding the tool, picking up pigment. It is done slowly enough for you to follow each decision and ask why it was made.

Step 2

Guided practice on practice skin

You repeat the movement on practice skin while the trainer watches your hand as well as the marks you leave. Pressure, angle, speed and stretch are corrected as you work, so good habits take hold from the first strokes.

Step 3

Feedback

Your trainer then goes through each practice sheet with you. Which lines kept their shape, where the shading turned patchy, what to adjust on the next pass. Because the feedback is about marks you can both see, you can carry it into your next session.

What a trainer profile shows

Every trainer profile follows the same layout, so you can compare trainers the way you compare courses. Nothing goes on a profile until it has been checked.

Expertise

Courses our trainers teach

Trainer profiles will show which courses each trainer teaches. New to the field? The Cosmetic Tattoo Course is the usual starting point before a specialist technique.

Questions to ask about a trainer

The person who teaches you shapes how you hold a tool for years. Before you enrol, put these questions to us in your enquiry. They also work when you compare any cosmetic tattoo course.

i.  Which courses does this trainer teach, and which techniques do they work in themselves?

ii.  What experience do they have in the technique I want to learn?

iii.  What qualifications do they hold, and how have they been verified?

iv.  How is time shared between demonstration, guided practice and feedback?

v.  How will they review my work on practice skin, and what should I practise between sessions?

vi.  Which course do they suggest for my current level: a foundation course or a specialist one?
