— JOURNAL · CHOOSING A COURSE · BY OLHA PO

Weigh.
Then enquire.

Should you learn brows, lips and eyeliner together, or start with one area and build from there? There’s no single right answer. It depends on where you’re starting from and which services you want to learn. This guide sets the two options side by side so you can come to an enquiry already knowing what you’d like to ask.

— 01 START WHERE YOU ARE

Start with you.
Then the course.

If you’re new to cosmetic tattooing, the first question isn’t which technique looks most appealing. It’s how much you want to take on at once. Some beginners like the broader picture they get from learning several areas. Others would rather build confidence in one area before adding another. Both are reasonable starting points.

If you’re already a beauty professional, such as a brow technician or beautician, think about the services you want to add to your business and the clients you already see. Someone who shapes and tints brows every day may lean towards eyebrow tattooing. Someone planning a full permanent makeup (PMU) menu may want the comprehensive route.

Whichever way you lean, every course is taught face to face in Melbourne by Olha Po in small groups, with individual guidance and practical feedback. Wanting reassurance that a course matches your level is completely normal. That conversation is what an enquiry is for.

— 02 THE MEASUREMENT CARD

Lay them side by side.
Then decide.

— 03 QUESTIONS TO BRING

List your questions.
Then enrol.

Students often ask whether a course suits complete beginners, what it costs, how long training takes and when the next dates are. Those are good questions. These ones help with the choice itself:

01  Given my experience, would one area or all three be a sensible place to start?

02  How much individual feedback will I get during practical work?

03  How are assessment, proportion and colour choice taught alongside technique?

04  If I start with one area, how would adding another work later?

Olha Po has worked professionally in cosmetic tattooing since 2016. Her experience covers skin assessment, colour theory and pigment selection as well as brow, lip and eyeliner work, so you can ask her directly about any of these.

— 04 BEFORE YOU ENROL

Read the limits.
Then ask.

Whichever option you choose, the same terms apply. Completing a course doesn’t guarantee employment or income, and it doesn’t give automatic permission to perform professional treatments. Our courses aren’t university degrees or nationally recognised qualifications. You remain responsible for meeting the laws, licensing, insurance and professional requirements that apply to you. All practical training is hands-on and supervised in person. We don’t offer online-only practical training. You can read the full details in Course Limitations and Student Responsibilities.

For more help deciding, see Choosing the Right Course or Starting Cosmetic Tattoo Training with No Experience. When you’re ready, tell us where you’re starting from and we’ll talk through which option fits.
